1. Can you Balance? – Join Brianna as she explores the challenges of finding balance in the chaos of everyday life. Students and teachers can look forward to helping with some demonstrations and taking part in some problem-solving exercises!
2. Choose Your Pace! – Make sure your laces are tied for this heart-rate raising workshop! Brianna will introduce students to the joy of running and a running game that puts the students in control of their own pace. Children of every fitness level will take pride in what they accomplish by the end of this visit and take away a token to remember the game and author visit!
3. Embrace Your Inner Athlete – This workshop integrates the ‘Can You Balance?’ workshop with a goal-setting and prioritizing exercise for middle school and high school students. Brianna shares her experiences growing-up as a dancer and her discovery of her inner athlete in her early twenties. Brianna will inspire students to set goals and stay active!
Hour visits (best suited for grades 3 + in single-class groupings):
4. Painting With Words – Using illustrations from her book and her background in Art History, Brianna will guide students through a descriptive writing exercise that gets them thinking about how to paint pictures with their words. The workshop will help energize students’ interest in creative writing and enjoy the revision process.
5. Picture perfect! – Clear communication (written and spoken!) is an essential life skill. In a hands-on interactive game, students become author/ publishers as they describe a visual composition to “illustrators” who must create the picture to the publisher’s satisfaction. To maintain balanced, students will try out both roles. You’ll gain a new appreciation for the complexity of illustrations and the work that goes into creating a book!
6. We’re in This Together! (geared for families or parents-only) - This workshop integrates the ‘Can You Balance?’ visit with a goal-setting and prioritizing exercise for families to complete together. Brianna will inspire families to set goals together and brainstorm positive steps to reach their goals and celebrate successes!
