Running Organizations & Resources for Kids:
Fit Girls - a program for 4th and 5th grade girls started in the Boston area that promotes healthy bodies, healthy, minds and healthy hearts. Participants run, read and participate in community outreach.
Girls on the Run International - This is the program that inspired We Are Girls Who Love to Run. It is a non-profit prevention program that encourages preteen girls (grades 3-5, with a follow-up program for older girls called Girls on Track) to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running.
GirlsSpeakOut - a global organization co-founded by Andrea Johnston and Gloria Steinem to help build girls' strengths and power as leaders.
GoGirlGo! - the primary programming focus of the Women’s Sports Foundation designed to combat the alarming physical and psychological health hazards affecting America’s young girls. GoGirlGo! uses sport and physical activity as an educational intervention that supports girls’ health and wellness in childhood and early womanhood.
GoGirlGo! in the Seattle area - the GoGirlGo! connection for the Seattle area
Just Run - a website-based program designed to assist schools and other youth organizations in the promotion of fitness and healthy lifestyle choices while combating childhood obesity and its related illnesses. The program is adaptable for students 2nd grade - high school. The program incorporates reading, running and service projects.
KidsRunning.Com - a resource sponsored by Runner's World that promotes the sport of running for kids. Filled with resources, book suggestions, games and activities for children, this is Brianna's "go-to" site for youth running-related news and connections.
Running Kids - youth running and adventure race coordinators in the Virgina area.
Running Rocks - Running USA's resource for youth running and fitness. Get connected with youth running programs and events in your area, find help for starting your own program, and discover resources for speakers and mentors.
